Baluster vase with lid and brilliantly glossy black glaze, known in the West as “mirror black.” This type of glaze was first produced during the Kangxi era, likely inspired by the popularity of glossy black Japanese lacquer in China. The rounded vase combines a form characteristic of the Kangxi era with exceptional gold painting. On the vessel body, there are depictions of flowers and foliage, both in a naturalistic and ornamental style.
