About Snake-skin Tankard

Esaias I. Busch

The present snake-skin jug with snake-skin embossing on all sides is a beautiful example of Augsburg Early Baroque. Above a slightly flared foot ring rises a cylindrical body with a laterally attached rocaille handle. The thumb rest is formed as a volute. The flat vaulted lid with a central baluster finial is also adorned with embossed snake-skin patterns.
