The elegant pair of goblets made of gilded silver is identical in its execution and bears the maker’s mark of Hans Caspar Gyger (1609-1676). The two cups are distinguished by their bell-shaped bowl, the lower half of which is embossed, featuring a chiseled vine decor and smoothly transitioning into a plain lip at the top. Both the curved foot and the stem once again incorporate the embossed motif of the bowl, giving the arrangement its balanced character.
Provenance: Cup no. 1: René Felber Collection
Cup no. 2: Private collection.
