About Pair of Elephants

Model by Peter Reinicke and (Johan Joachim Kaendler?)

Naturalistically designed pair of elephants in gray with pink coloring in the ears and at the trunks. One elephant with a pink saddle blanket with gold border.
The elephant without a blanket bears similarities to the elephant from the “Court of the Grand Mogul” (circa 1752) (see Rückert 1966, p. 191 & 263).
There are also clear parallels to an etching by the engraver Joseph Wagner (1705-1780) (see Andres Acevedo 2020, p. 365f.).
