Model by Peter Reinicke and (Johan Joachim Kaendler?)
Naturalistically designed pair of elephants in gray with pink coloring in the ears and at the trunks. One elephant with a pink saddle blanket with gold border. The elephant without a blanket bears similarities to the elephant from the “Court of the Grand Mogul” (circa 1752) (see Rückert 1966, p. 191 & 263). There are also clear parallels to an etching by the engraver Joseph Wagner (1705-1780) (see Andres Acevedo 2020, p. 365f.).
