Our sixth-generation, family-run art and antique business has over 150 years of experience. With a wealth of expertise and our enthusiastic younger generation taking care of customers’ treasured items, we offer personal, independent services. Rather than serving a specific auction house or being funded by an insurance group, Antiquités Ségal & Selig offers consultations for art collectors and their heirs as well as lawyers, solicitors, asset managers, executors, authorities and the courts.
Do you have an objet d’art at home but no idea what it is or how much it’s worth? Or perhaps you have found an item that needs a match? Do you need to find new insurance for your collection? Or a valuation for tax or even selling purposes? Antiquités Ségal & Selig will be happy to help with our reliable expertise.

Raphael Selig took over as director of Antiquités Ségal & Selig in 2016, after a number of years with our family business. Since joining us, he has developed a detailed knowledge of the art business, thanks in large part to the meticulous and expert tutelage of his great uncle, Dr Georges B. Ségal, our company director for many years.
Antiquité Ségal was established in 1862 by Isaak Ségal-Guggenheim as a centre for classic fine arts, growing from the small art dealer’s business he had set up two years earlier, at Spalenberg 27. Having relocated to Basel shortly before, from the nearby village of Hégenheim in Alsace, he supplied customers in his new neighbourhood with antiques and furnishings for day-to-day use.
